are intertwined, giving the village a special aura.
In 2014, Father Philippe-Marie, the parish priest of Bargemon, was moved by Pope Francis' message on the plight of Christians in the East, and felt called by the Virgin Mary to welcome the first 30 Iraqi Christian refugees into the 900 m2 of his empty rectory!
Under Mary's benevolent gaze, the village once again sprang to life, and communion was developed between the inhabitants and the Iraqis. Many more refugees arrived, and the “Notre-Dame de Bargemon” association was born, with the opening of a sewing, washing and ironing workshop.
The faith shared by these persecuted Christians echoes the message of Mary, who appeared in this village in the 17th century as a beautiful pilgrim (cf A Moment with Mary of January 14, 2025). One of the Iraqi says: "Prayer is our only refuge."
After leaving everything behind to follow Christ, their abandonment to God's will is total.
What if the rebirth of this shrine, through Christians from the cradle of Christianity, in the very region where Saint Mary Magdalene also took refuge, were Mary's new message to encourage us to convert ever more?
Since the small statue of Mary was enthroned in the church in 2016, the grace of the apparition and the message of the Blessed Virgin have been at the heart of Bargemon, once again the site of numerous healings.
