This is excellent news: on Friday, August 30, 2024, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith made public the positive decision (nihil obstat) concerning the spiritual fruits of the fifteen apparitions recounted by the visionary Estelle Faguette in Pellevoisin, a French commune in the Indre region, during the year 1876.
In a letter from Cardinal Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, entitled “Our Lady of Mercy, lead us to the heart of Christ”, addressed to the Most Rev. Jérôme Beau, Archbishop of Bourges, the faithful are authorized to join in Marian devotion at the Pellevoisin shrine: “Not only can I affirm that there are no doctrinal, moral or other objections to this spiritual event, [...] but that on the contrary all will find in it a path of spiritual simplicity, trust and love, likely to do you much good. It will certainly be good for the whole Church,” declared Cardinal Fernandez.
The Pellevoisin apparitions took place between February 14, 1876, and December 8 of the same year. Mary appeared to a young woman named Estelle Faguette, who was terminally ill at the start of the apparitions and was cured at the fifth apparition (February 19). Mary presented herself as “the most merciful” (3rd apparition) and later told Estelle that she had come for “the conversion of sinners” (7th apparition) and for “the little ones and the weak” (13th apparition).
Mary presented Estelle (9th apparition) with the scapular bearing her Son's heart on the front. Later, with the approval of Rome, an image of Mary was added to the other side. This is the core of the apparitions: the “All-Merciful” leads to the heart of her Son, the source of mercy.
In the 11th apparition, Mary invited us to pray especially for the Church and for France. She appeared fifteen times in just a few months to Estelle Faguette.
Today, the message of Our Lady of Pellevoisin, the All-Merciful, is particularly timely and relevant to the thirst of more and more seekers of God, who come to entrust themselves to the Mother of Her Son in great hope.
