Mary plays a maternal role with regard to all men, whether they know it or not.
Christ is the New Adam, at the origin of a new humanity, and Mary brings her help for the birth of this new humanity: that of her faith, that of her suffering. Thus she becomes, at his side, the new Eve who, at the foot of the Cross, receives the mission of being Mother for all men.
On the night of May 29-30, 1930, the Lord Jesus revealed to Sister Lucia, in Pontevedra, Portugal, the reasons for the devotion of reparation on the first five Saturdays of the month requested by Heaven through the three visionaries of Fatima. The number five is linked to five types of offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The third type of offense is: "Blasphemies against her divine motherhood, refusing at the same time to recognize her as the Mother of men."
Mary must be recognized as the Mother of men, as the New Eve. Pope John Paul II stated that through veneration of the Virgin Mary, the power of Mary's "universal motherhood" is exercised, under the action of the Holy Spirit.
