We must be aware of a great truth that is not sufficiently known, and that is that the Rosary is a powerful weapon in the hands of a Christian. The Blessed Virgin gave it to strengthen us in our duties as Christians. (...). A Christian soul who arms himself with the Rosary is a soldier who defends himself against all the powers of hell.
The Mother of God, who in the past has given proofs of her maternal goodness, responds to our requests. She will not deceive us; leaning on the Mother of God, even though you might feel afraid, you will cross over perils without any harm; the spirit of strength, piety, wisdom, and intelligence will be given to you, and the more fervent you will be in reciting the sublime Ave Maria prayer, the more the Holy Spirit will give you the love of prayer, and the more you will appreciate the graces it provides.
Father Jean-Édouard Lamy(1) (1853 - 1931): Homily of October 6, 1918 in La Courneuve, France.
(1) Father Lamy was a Mystic and Founder of the Religious Congregation of the Servants of Jesus and Mary. On September 9, 1909, he had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary who asked him to found a pilgrimage to Notre-Dame-des-Bois (Haute-Marne department, France), very close to his native village, "because," she said, "they have nothing in those parts": she showed him the place, the statue he was to put there, and the house that would serve as a chapel. She also asked him to found a religious congregation.
