I was baptized and my family on my mother's side is Christian. I am also of Celtic heritage. One night, to my surprise, I saw Mary in a dream. She just said to me, "If you want your life to get better, pray to me."

The next day, when I was at my mother's house, I told her about the dream. It was very surprising to me, because with my baroque tattoos and my rebellious spirit, I didn't think I would interest Mary.

I bought a small statue of the Madonna online and installed it in my home. A few months later, I ran into a serious housing problem. I was going to be evicted, with no place to go. I was desperate. I had a week to myself, so I decided to walk an hour each day to visit a special statue of Mary in a grotto that had many ex votos.

I went there every day that week. I would sometimes pray out loud, pouring out my heart to Mary. A few weeks later, I was waiting for an answer on two applications for two apartments that I had found. My second choice was declined...but my first choice was accepted!

Since that day, my life has changed for the better. I pray to Mary every day. In the village where I live, we have a statue perched on a hill, called Our Lady the Overlooker. I think that Mary is indeed powerful in watching over us. In the dark night that our country is experiencing, she is one of the only bright stars.
