In The Secret of Mary, St. Louis de Montfort writes: "God made a world for man while he journeys, which is this world; he made a world for the blessed, which is Paradise; but he made another world for Himself, to which he gave the name of Mary."
This world that He had reserved for Himself, He offered it to us on the Cross through the hands and heart of the apostle John. Thus the month of May - following the Paschal joy of the Resurrection and preceding the outpouring of the Holy Spirit – should invite Catholics especially to rediscover the treasure of Marian devotion. Let us meditate in our hearts on the rich gift of Our Lord on the Cross and the mysteries of His saintly earthly life as we pray our rosaries.
Let us rediscover those shrines or small chapels in which the Blessed Virgin dispenses her graces and brings us silence and tranquility, which are conducive to prayer. Those places are more than a rich heritage: when we visit them, Mary opens a window for us onto the mysteries of God and human lives.
As she did for St. Juan Diego, the Blessed Virgin reassures us in our struggles and says to us: "Listen to what I am going to tell you, and let it penetrate your heart: never let anything depress you or discourage you. Do not be troubled or crushed by your grief. Do not fear any illness, vexation, anxiety or pain. Am I not here, your Mother? Are you not under my shadow, under my protection? Am I not your fountain of life? Are you not nestled in the folds of my cloak? In my arms? Is there anything else you need? "
Let us pray to Mary especially for all the victims of the pandemic. Let us pray for our personal conversions to the Gospel of Christ.
Let us discover Mary’s treasures and repeat after Father de Montfort and John Paul II: "I am all yours, my Queen, my Mother, and all that I have belongs to you."
