October 25 – Consecration of the Toledo Cathedral to Mary (Spain, 1075)

Become Eucharistic men and women through Mary

To resemble Mary in our bodies and to love her in glory signifies that we are becoming Eucharistic men and women, guided by the injunction "Do this in memory of me," so that we can begin ascending the path to Heaven. But we must also make use of prudence and discernment on the way there, as not all paths lead to Christ.

To bear the features of the Mother of Jesus lifted up in glory, as Eucharistic men and women engaged in discernment, simply means "not to be afraid" before the red Dragon and its evil manifestations in history.

The men and women who bear the features of Mary raised in glory do not retreat or capitulate. They know how to transform the arid and inhospitable desert into a safe refuge where one tends to the means of life, without resorting to arms and violence, but to joy and prayer, in fidelity to the promise and the gift of self. They do not let the proud, the rich, the powerful, or the corrupt to set themselves up as "definers of life," "manipulators" of people's consciences and bodies, "thieves" of the future and of hope!

Dear brothers and sisters, Mary glorified, totally filled with the "vision of God," is given today by the Holy Trinity to the Church and the world as a "sign of consolation and sure hope," so that we may set out on pilgrimage, strengthened by humility and discernment, as Eucharistic men and women.
