Precious Mary, Mother of God, I see you standing at the foot of the Cross.
Not collapsed, not kneeling, not prostrate, but standing. What does this mean?
It means you love God and His Will far beyond your desires, inclinations and the sufferings you experience.
You want only God and His Will.
It means you loved God immensely long before your Son Jesus was conceived and born.
From your earliest childhood, your love flourished and grew every day because every day you sought to be small.
You sought to be smaller and smaller with each passing day.
Instill in me this day the desire to be small.
Help me understand that God wants me to be small.
Enlighten me to truly believe that difficulties are given to me lovingly to help me grow in smallness.
Give me this day the wisdom to accept, embrace and even seek out these difficulties – failures, contradictions, oppositions, bad looks, harsh words, conflict, disrespect, indifference, rejections, insults, corrections, false accusations, condescension, being judged, being despised, being viewed less than the other, being taken advantage of, job loss, financial struggles, loss of reputation, distressing family matters, bad health – all as opportunities to be small.
If I am small I can love – God will fill my smallness with His eternal love.
Precious Mary, Mother of God, please help and guide me this day to be small so that I can be found standing at the foot of the cross.
