Saint Louis de Montfort (1) explains that there are many ways to use the grace that God gives us for each day to produce fruits of holiness. And he lists the means that are absolutely necessary to every person who wants to become holy. These means are found in the Gospel and the lives of all the saints: "Humility of heart, continual prayer, mortification in all things, surrender to Divine Providence, and conformity to the will of God."
While we can all agree that this is the way to sainthood, we might also worry and think: "How am I ever going to get there?"
The answer, of course, is that it will be through the grace of God. I must ask God for this grace to show Him my good will and to want for myself everything that He wants for me. But I feel so small before the greatness of all these graces to ask, that I fear I will never succeed.
As if he heard my fear, Saint Louis de Montfort replied: "It is all about finding an easy way to obtain from God the grace necessary to become a saint." Yes, that is what I must find as soon as possible: an easy way to lead me to the greatest good of all, holiness, without diminishing it.
Saint Louis de Montfort gives me the answer: "But I say that to find this grace of God, you must find Mary."
