The Blessed Virgin chose Venezuela to give a message of reconciliation, love and fraternal unity, presenting herself as the Reconciling Mother of all Nations. In Betania, Venezuela, the Reconciling Virgin appeared for the first time on March 25, 1976, to Maria Esperanza Medrano de Bianchini, a wife and mother whom God gifted with special charisms.
On that day, the feast day of the Annunciation, Maria Esperanza had her first vision of the Virgin Mary, during a prayer group session made up of 80 people. Maria was the only one to see the Virgin, but the other members of the group perceived unusual phenomena, such as movements of the sun and the smell of roses.
The seer later shared that she had seen the Virgin in a grotto in the woods. The Virgin, all dressed in white, appeared as a graceful and luminous girl of 14 or 16 years of age. On this glorious day, she gave Maria the following message:
“My daughter, I come with my hands filled with graces and covered with splendors of light, to call all my children to conversion. It is the seed of glory that I offer to you as Mary Reconciler of all peoples and all nations, for I come to reconcile all of you! Reconciliation is the inheritance of the divine brotherhood of my divine Son! Daughter, I ask you to bring my message to all! I will keep you in my Heart today and always!”
For Venezuela, which suffered communist guerrilla warfare (the Armed Forces of National Liberation in the 1960s), like other Latin American countries before and after it, the word reconciliation is not trivial—its meaning is not only spiritual.
