From September 22-25, 2018, Pope Francis visited Lithuania, the Baltic country dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary since February 11, 2018, in the Cathedral of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in of Trakai (Archdiocese of Vilnius, capital of the country).
"May the Blessed Virgin Mary protect Lithuania and direct our gaze to her Son every day, inviting us to listen to his words and to follow him," the Lithuanians prayed.
According to the Lithuanian bishops in a joint statement, the consecration of Lithuania to the Immaculate Heart of Mary "is an act of faith by which we express our trust in Mary ... we renew the faith expressed by our parents and our ancestors, and we give thanks because Lithuania has long been known as the ‘land of Mary’."
They encourage the faithful to often say the prayer of consecration to the Virgin Mary, a prayer that expresses the desire of our people to build a society based on Christian values, so that Lithuania can live in faith, hope, and love.
