The Polish project "Rosary at the Borders" (see A Moment With Mary of 09/24) has 22 dioceses, located in the country’s border regions, participating. Priests will act as coordinators, and about 200 churches have been appointed to serve as stations. As organizer and spokesman Maciej Bodasiński explains, no area will be overlooked, whether it is a mountain peak or a body of water: "At sea the fishermen will line up the fishing boats on the Bug River. Kayakers will leave the church-station, to go create a line of canoes on the river. Along the common Polish, Czech and Slovak border we invite the Czechs and the Slovaks to pray with us."
The Polish community of the "Pilgrims of Mercy," a group of former prisoners, decided to do their own pilgrimage along the Polish border. They are walking the 2,181 miles of borders, as part of the "Rosary at the Borders." Coming from all areas of Poland, they chose to take no money or food with them, spending the night at churches along the way. These “Pilgrims of Mercy" are walking for a total of 20 weeks, corresponding to the number of mysteries of the Rosary.
