The Rosary was Padre Pio’s usual way of conversing with the Virgin Mary. He called the Rosary his "weapon" that allowed him to conquer and obtain everything.
Giving thanks to the Virgin Mary was for him the necessary way to give thanks to God.
He himself received a special grace through it: In August 1959, after a journeying to several Italian cities, the statue of Our Lady of Fatima arrived in San Giovanni. An huge crowd was present. The statue had barely entered the church when Padre Pio went to meet her. With tears in his eyes, he kissed her affectionately and placed his rosary in her hands. Since he was very ill, he immediately returned to his cell, where he watched the statue leave by helicopter.
Then he exclaimed, "Mamma mia, I fell ill when you entered Italy. Please don’t let me remain sick now that you are leaving!” As he bowed his head, he immediately felt cured. The one by whom he had obtained so many graces had heard his prayer!
He, the minister of reconciliation, used to say: "I would like to have a voice strong enough to invite the sinners of the whole world to love the Blessed Virgin."
