August 27 – Our Lady of Quézac (Quézac, France)

Becoming a diamond in Mary’s crown

Yesterday, Saturday, the 26th of August, was the anniversary celebration of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Since September 8, 2016, and until September 8, 2017, Poland has been celebrating the jubilee of the 300th anniversary of the coronation of the Miraculous Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa, made with a crown offered by Pope Clement XI!

This occasion is a true national feast of the Christian faith. A pastoral event entitled "A Living Crown for Mary" was organized during this jubilee year. Father Tomasz Tlałka, one of the organizers, explains:

"Today we want to crown Mary not with gold crowns but with deeds in our lives. For this, we need a conversion, in order to be "a Living Crown for Mary." That is why we make a concrete spiritual commitment, such as confession after many years, reconciliation with someone after a long estrangement, quitting alcohol or drugs, praying the Rosary daily, reading the Bible, or another spiritual reading."

We write the commitment on the back of a photograph of ourselves and send it to Czestochowa before August 15th. In response, we will receive the image of the Virgin of Czestochowa, as a sign that "we are a diamond in Mary’s crown."
