Natuzza Evolo (1924-2009) is an Italian mystic whose beatification process is underway. Born in Calabria on August 23rd, in a poor family, from childhood she had visions of Jesus, Mary, and her guardian angel. Later, the deceased appeared to her, transmitting warnings to the living.
In 1944, Heaven asked her in a vision to build "a great house to relieve all those in need, as well as a large church that would be called the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Refuge of Souls". Forty-three years later, on May 13, 1987, the local bishop gave his consent for the creation of an organization bearing this name and designed to carry out this exact work.
Natuzza prayed for the souls in purgatory and invited others to do the same, especially to offer Masses for them. "You who naively think that all souls go to Heaven," she said, "know that hell and purgatory also exist, and that just one mortal sin, committed in bad faith and not acknowledged, or confessed without sincere repentance, prevents you from entering the holy Paradise. If you have committed mortal sins, it is imperative to confess them to a priest with sincere repentance."
