Vincent Costa fell suddenly ill. Due to the consequences of a heart attack, he could no longer walk properly. The 55-year-old told Fides: “I was shocked and saddened. I didn't know what to do. I turned to the Virgin Mary. I prayed the Rosary every day. Little by little, I began to walk properly again. Since then, I always keep a rosary in my pocket and recite it regularly.
Sharbon Rozario, a 21-year-old university student, recounts how his father lost his job due to illness. “At a seminar organized by the Holy Cross congregation, I heard about the power of praying the rosary. I started praying it every day, with faith. I prayed to Mary and she helped us: my father recovered and found another job in a restaurant in Dhaka.”
“Praying the Rosary helps bring peace to families. May is Mary's month, so it's a special time to pray with faith and spread the Rosary prayer,” says Father Ruben Manuel Gomes, national pastoral director of the Holy Cross congregation in Bangladesh.
Holy Cross religious organize seminars, meetings and special conferences to promote Marian devotion, bringing together people of all ages and fostering a deeper understanding of the meaning and mission of Mary in Christian spirituality.
This awareness enables devotion to Our Lady to reach people from all walks of life, enriching the faith of believers throughout Bangladesh.
Every year, 200,000 rosaries and 300,000 images of Mary are distributed to the faithful. There are also Marian art competitions, he adds, to creatively depict the figure of Mary in the Christian faith.
