Alain Delon, one of the icons of French cinema, died on Sunday, August 18, 2024, in Douchy, Loiret (central France) at the age of 88.
In 2018, on Catherine Ceylac's program 'Thé ou Café', the actor of the film Le Samouraï declared that he “didn't believe in God, but had a mad passion for Mary”, and described his devotion to the Blessed Virgin thus: “She's the woman in the world I love most. The one I turn to most. She's the only one who listens to me and often proves me right”.
In the same France 2 (TV) program, he had taken a statuette of the Blessed Virgin out of his pocket, explaining that he kept it with him at all times. Still on the subject of Mary, the actor confided: “I talk to her at home when I'm alone, and I tell her what I have to say”. As for the spiritual aspect of his funeral, Alain Delon affirmed that everything had been taken care of: “Everything is ready, I have my tomb in my chapel”.
Alain Delon passed away, confiding in Marie. In a joint statement to AFP, his three children, Anthony, Anouchka and Alain-Fabien, announced: “He has gone to join the Virgin Mary among the stars so dear to his heart”.
His “intimate communication” with Mary was above all a source of comfort, “companionship” and “relief”, as the late film legend himself admitted.
