From the moment of Jesus' conception, Mary began a dialogue with him, a dialogue that will never end and that has now blossomed into eternity. The Magnificat, sung at Elizabeth's home just a few days after the Annunciation (PS 2), attests to this.
What about us, the children Jesus gave her from the Cross? What is our part in the Virgin's maternity, we who were born of imperfect mothers? One message enlightens and delights us, when Mary said in Medjugorje (1): "Dear children, I love each one of you as much as I love my Son Jesus!" And also: "Dear children, as I carried the Child Jesus in my womb, so I want to carry each one of you on the way to salvation." (message of 03/25/1990)
In one of his homilies, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux develops this beautiful thought: when we are on earth, we are not yet born. We are born when we enter Heaven. On earth, we are carried in Mary's womb.
If a simple mother has such an influence on the child she carries, can we even imagine what our Heavenly Mother gives us when we choose to consecrate ourselves to her, that is, to belong to her entirely and live in her? Mary puts everything she has at our disposal! Her goodness, kindness, beauty, peace, love, tenderness, strength, courage, light, purity, even her intimacy with the Father, into which she introduces us...
Saint Louis de Montfort declared: "Oh, how happy we are when we have given everything to Mary... We are everything to Mary and Mary is everything to us!" (§ 179 of True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin), and St Therese the Little Flower : "The mother's treasure belongs to the child."
To live in Mary is to be nourished and protected, for then we escape the gaze of the enemy and his satanic attacks; he cannot destroy us.
