Although she may not realize it, every baptized woman has a real mission in the Church. And what mission is that? Her mission is to give life! She doesn't know it, but the child she's given birth to may one day wear the miter and hold the crozier. Whom will the child have to thank for his own mission? The woman who gave birth to him! Who carried him in her womb, nurtured him, cared for him, trained him, and taught him that the Church is a true "mother".
The Founder of the Church is Jesus Christ. To found the Church, he chose his apostles and sent them out on mission. But whom did he entrust this Church to? The woman in whom he had complete confidence: His own Mother. She who proved to be courageous and strong at the foot of the cross, supported by the beloved disciple. Everyone else had fled, trembling with fear!
Who could say that the woman has no place in the Church? What was she doing at the foot of the cross? Just crying out in pain? What is woman's role in the Church? The role that the Lord himself gave her at the cross!
Mary strengthened Peter and softened Paul. She was glorified in body and soul, she whom sin has never touched, in order to continue her true mission, which is to teach the Church to be a Mother. This is the mission of every woman, whether married or consecrated. It is the mission of the Church, both as a "communion" and as an "institution".
