What is the parallel between Eve and Mary?

Throughout the Old Covenant, Mary's mission was prepared by that of certain women: Sarah, who conceived a son despite her advanced age, Anne, mother of Samuel, Deborah, Ruth, Judith...

In the beginning, there was Eve: despite her disobedience, she received the promise of descendants who would be victorious over the Evil One, as recounted in the Book of Genesis.

With Mary, the chosen Daughter of Zion, after the long wait for the promised Savior, the appointed time is fulfilled and the new economy of salvation is inaugurated. Mary "stands out among the poor and humble of the Lord, who confidently hope for and receive salvation from Him, and joyfully welcome it", as Lumen Gentium 55 affirms.

If you and I had had the chance, we too would have made Mary Queen and Sovereign of all creation. "A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars." ( Rev. 12: 1)

Mary, the spotless Virgin, repaired Eve's fall and she crushes the head of the infernal serpent with her immaculate heel. Mary, who is Daughter of God, Mother of God and Spouse of God.
