In 1938, a young nun from the Diocese of Cincinnati, USA, known as "White Dove", had mystical experiences. In 1954, she received locutions from Our Lady of America.

On November 15, 1956, Mary asked her to draw what she saw in order to have a statue made for the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington.

The nun then wrote down this prayer: "By thy Holy and Immaculate Conception O Mary, deliver us from evil."

On November 25, 1956, "White Dove" saw Mary as Our Lady of Lourdes, who promised her "greater miracles" than at Lourdes or Fatima if the Americans would obey her wishes. The next day, she said: "I am Our Lady of America. I desire that my children honor me above all by the purity of their lives."

The following September 27, Our Lady appeared to her, holding a globe in her hands: "See the tears of your Mother, my children. Must I weep in vain? I come to you, children of America, as a last resort. I am the Immaculate, patroness of your country. Be faithful to me as I have been your faithful Mother. I desire to make all America my shrine, making every heart receptive to the love of my Son."

July 22, 1957, a new message: "My Immaculate Heart is the channel through which the graces of the Sacred Heart are given to men."

In May 1958, "White Dove" entered a cloistered community of her institute, where she alleged visions of Christ and angels.

In 1963, Archbishop P. Leibold, who had personally followed the visionary since 1940, granted his imprimatur to the publication of the messages.
