Anne gave birth to the Queen

Joachim chose Anne as his wife. She was an exceptional woman, worthy of the highest praise. Indeed, just as the first Anne, afflicted by barrenness in ancient times, had obtained by prayer and a vow to give birth to Samuel, this other Anne in turn, in the same way, by supplication and a vow, obtained from God the Mother of God.

On this point, then, she in no way yields to any of the illustrious women. Thus grace - for this is the meaning of the name Anne - gave birth to the Queen (which is the meaning of the name Mary). Mary,  as the Mother of the Creator, was in fact truly established as the sovereign of all creatures.

She was born in Joachim's house, near the probatic gate, and taken to the Temple. Then, "planted in the house of God", and nourished by the Spirit, like a fertile olive tree, she became the abode of all virtues. Detaching her heart from all the lusts of this life and of the flesh, she kept her soul as virginal as her body, as befits one who was about to conceive God in her womb.
