We would like to testify to what we received in Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina. We went there in 2004, for my part out of curiosity and for my husband somewhat reluctantly. We came back completely transformed.
We had always prayed together as a family, but when our children got married, my husband started to pray on his side and I on mine. I suffered a lot from this situation because I found it difficult to pray alone. But since that trip to Medjugorje, we pray the Rosary and meditate on its mysteries every morning at the church which is 200 yards from our house. We pray for about an hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament and again an hour in the evening. We fast on Wednesday and Friday, which was unthinkable a few weeks ago! We also talk about the readings of the day.
For more than 15 years, I was addicted to a soap opera that I watched every day, and in the evening we would watch TV from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. By mutual agreement, we decided to stop watching TV, which had become worse than a drug.
From time to time, temptation lurks but I cry out, "Mary help me!"
We find that all these resolutions taken together bring us closer together. We also try to bear witness to our faith, even though we have to face the skepticism of people, especially of priests. So we pray a lot for them. Nevertheless, we have convinced several families to sign up for the next pilgrimage.
