The Marian Sisters, a blessing for Hungary

I think it is important to let people know that many of us, parents, families and friends in Hungary, love and support the Marian Sisters. For us the existence of the Marian Sisters is a blessing from God and a great source of grace.

My husband and I are Hungarian and used to be high school teachers. We raised 7 children during the difficult time of the Communist regime (which lasted 40 years). Without complaining, we followed the "policy of the trout" by constantly having to swim upstream.

When our children were born, we had them baptized, and we consecrated them to Mary. God chose three of them to serve Him: one became a priest, the other two are religious. All the others, as well as our 17 grandchildren, serve the glory of God. We had the great joy of meeting Mother Myriam, the founder of the Community of Marian Sisters. And we were blessed that one of our daughters was admitted into this community!

The spirituality of the community is one of simplicity, obedience to the Church and charity in the image of Mary. We have experienced these fruits: two of our children have been healed by their competent care, by their loving attention and by their prayers. Since our daughter entered this community, our relationship with her has even deepened, in God's Love.

We have often experienced the active presence of the community in both good times and bad. When my oldest daughter became paralyzed after a car accident, Mother Myriam offered her help. In 1998, I had an operation. The Little Sisters took turns to look after me!

They do this for all the families. I could see the deep love that reigns in this community among the Little Sisters. When Mother Myriam and her sisters were persecuted in Hungary in 1998, we were overwhelmed by their unshakeable fidelity to Christ Crucified and to Mary at the foot of the Cross!

May God help this magnificent community of Marian Sisters who still face many obstacles today in Hungary; let us pray to Mary that she may protect them and help their magnificent outreach to expand.
