One of our readers wished to clarify a point regarding our June 17, 2022, issue of A Moment with Mary:
“On June 17, your article stated: We do not know if Louis XIV had knowledge of the message. You were referring to a message dated June 17, 1689, brought by the nun St. Margaret Mary to King Louis XIV, asking him on behalf of Our Lord for the consecration to his Heart.
Louis XIV did not carry out this consecration, and 100 years later, to the day, [his descendant] Louis XVI was dethroned! And yet his grandfather had received the message. We know this for sure because of the Fatima apparitions in Portugal: it is Our Lord Himself who told this to the seer Sister Lucia. It happened in Rianjo, near Pontevedra, where she had been sent to recover from an illness. This is what she wrote on August 29, 1931, to Bishop da Silva:
"As I was asking God for the conversion of Russia, Spain and Portugal, it seemed to me that His Divine Majesty was saying to me: 'You console me greatly by asking me for the conversion of these poor nations. Ask this of my Mother too, saying to her often: 'Sweet Heart of Mary, be the salvation of Russia, Spain and Portugal, of Europe and the whole world.' And at other times: 'Through your pure and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, obtain for me the conversion of Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe and the whole world.' Let my ministers know that, since they are following the example of the King of France (Editor's note: Louis XIV) in delaying the execution of my request, they will experience the same unfortunate consequences as those of the King of France (Editor's note: Louis XIV). It will never be too late to have recourse to Jesus and Mary."
Later, Sister Lucia wrote to her confessor, Father Gonçalves: "By means of an intimate communication, Our Lord complained to me: "They did not want to listen to my request! (1)... Like the king of France, they will repent, and they will accomplish it, but it will be late. Russia will have already spread her errors in the world, provoking wars and persecutions against the Church. The Holy Father will suffer much."
So we know from Sister Lucia's 2 documents that King Louis XIV did receive Our Lord's requests, who used the example of the King of France to show that the delay brought by his "ministers" in consecrating Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was the cause of errors spread throughout the world.
