Today is Monday, the day in which we pray the joyful mysteries. Let us meditate on the third joyful mystery, the Nativity, whose fruit is Poverty of Spirit, Detachment from the Things of the World, by practicing detachment from worldly goods.
Jesus Christ is born in a stable. His Mother places him in a manger where the shepherds and then the Magi come to visit him.
Mary passes from the stage of learning after her three months with her cousin Elizabeth, to that of personal experience as she becomes a mother. Mary, immaculate (who has not received the stain of original sin) gives birth to Jesus, without pain (see Genesis). Joseph, although present at this event, is in the background. Mary is visited by shepherds and wise men, Magi from Babylon bringing gifts.
With our present perspective, we can ask ourselves:
Why didn't Mary give birth to Jesus in a palace instead of a miserable stable?
Why did Mary remain so calm while Joseph could not find a place to give birth to his pregnant wife?
Mary had complete trust in God!
So, Mary, I continue to trust you. I follow your gaze that leads me to your Son. I imagine the assembly of those who visited you at the crib for the first Adoration of the Real Presence.
Mary, I have many questions concerning my daily life, as you did at that time in the stable with the Son of God.
"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (Jn 1:14).
