In the painting of Mary Undoer of Knots, a dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, hovers above the head of the Virgin Mary, and illuminates the top of the painting with a heavenly light.
According to Father Zannini (1), "With Mary, the Holy Spirit formed the Incarnate Word. He acted on the soul, the heart and the flesh of the Virgin by filling them with all his gifts, with all his graces, with all his infinite love, and it is thus that he raised this chaste womb to the height of the Father's womb and that he prepared for the Word this immaculate body that the incarnate Word made his own. He acquired over the Son of the Father, as a man, a new authority. It is by bending over his humanity, by filling it with all his holiness, by giving it this kiss of infinite love that he made the God-Man the Holy One of God (Jn 6:29).
Jesus himself said: "The Holy Spirit is upon me because he has anointed me to bring the good news to the poor" (Lk 4:18).
It is the same Spirit who formed Jesus in Mary, who brought him out of her womb and who brought him out of the tomb alive and victorious over death. And as the Spirit raised Jesus, so he will raise all the members of his Church, because through Mary he has obtained power and jurisdiction over the whole body of Christ which is the Church.
