A "tsunami of faith": birth of the Novena to Mary Undoer of Knots

Father Juan-Ramón Celeiro played an important part in the development of the devotion to Mary who Unties Knots in Argentina.

The pastor of San Juan Bautista parish in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, he was also a university professor, a teacher at a training institute, a spiritual advisor to the Apostles of Divine Mercy, and the head of a youth program of several thousand members. He was known to be very close to his parishioners. When they asked him to start a prayer group to Mary Undoer of Knots in their church, he agreed to have a reproduction of the painting installed in 1997.

The number of participants increased dramatically. Seeing the success of this devotion, and wishing to give it a structure, Fr. Celeiro wrote a novena for his parishioners the following year, in 1998. He had it published in Argentina by the publishing company Editorial Santa Maria of Buenos Aires. This novena was a great success in Latin America.

Introduced in Europe in 2001 by Gingko Publishing House, the novena has been published in more than twelve languages (outside Latin America), including Chinese and Arabic. Since 2001, it has enjoyed incredible success in France, which continues to this day. To date, more than one million copies have been distributed in eight languages (French, English, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese) in France and throughout the world. Contracts have been signed with foreign publishers in Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Poland, Great Britain, the United States, Australia, India, the Philippines, Korea, Egypt, etc. This novena is now being distributed by Mary of Nazareth.

Father Celeiro gives talks everywhere to share this story. An official website, translated into five languages, is specifically dedicated to the devotion to Mary Undoer of Knots.

Numerous testimonies of answered prayers through the intercession of Mary Undoer of Knots have been received.
