Mary is an important woman in my life. She is of course the Virgin Mary, the mother of God, the mother of us all, and she is always present with us.
From heaven, she has marked my life. I come from a Christian family, and I have always known her. I have known since I was a child, and even more so as an adult, that she watches over us and is present in our lives. She guides me on my way. I often speak to her, as one speaks to a mother or to a close friend. I pray to her, I listen to her in the morning when I wake up through beautiful songs and hymns such as "Mary crowned with stars", "the First on the way", "Mary tenderness in our lives", "Hail Queen of the Rosary" and “Dio Vi Salvi Regina.” These songs bring me joy as I start a new day, as I share a beautiful moment with the Virgin Mary. For me, Mary represents tenderness, benevolence, listening and presence. I also wear her medal around my neck.
Mary was chosen by the Father to give birth to his child Jesus Christ. She was there on the way to the cross and at the foot of the cross near her crucified son. She saw him suffer. She experienced the mystery, the happiness and joy, as well as much sadness and suffering, just like us who believe in her.
I love to enter churches, wherever I am, to visit Our Lady quietly, with the greatest respect, and to feel this deep emotion that almost takes my breath away. I look at her and smile every time because she illuminates the space with her presence, or rather with her spiritual presence. When I am happy I thank her, when I am sad I ask her to help me through the difficult moments, and when I need help I talk to her, because I know she is there, close by.
I know that on the day I will leave for the other side, she will be waiting for me, she will open the doors of the Altru Mondu (other world) for me. I imagine that the women of my family who have died are with Mary, that they live in heaven with their Holy Mother.
