December 16 - Our Lady of Deliverance (France)

The power of just three Hail Marys

When I was in my thirties, a colleague invited me and some people from the office to a party at her house. Although she was very nice, this person was interested in occult practices, and that evening she had invited a young man who knew how to read tarot cards.

He began to read the cards of the people present, who confirmed the accuracy of his statements. Everyone was impressed. Then he began to tell the future of some of the guests.

At that moment, I felt an alarm bell inside me: his talents as a medium were very impressive, but definitely not of God... Doesn’t God say somewhere in the Bible that these practices are an abomination (1)?

Not knowing what to do, I began to pray to the Virgin Mary in my heart.

No sooner had I finished the third Hail Mary than something happened: the young man stopped reading his cards. He said that he was blocked and that a force was preventing him from continuing. He looked around at the participants and then at me. "It's you," he said matter-of-factly. "Well, we're just going to stop." And just like that, we switched to normal games.

I was really amazed... This experience was enough to convince me to pray my rosary, whose power had just been revealed to me in such an impressive and effective way.

(1) "Let there not be found among you anyone who causes their son or daughter to pass through the fire, or practices divination, or is a soothsayer, augur, or sorcerer, or who casts spells, consults ghosts and spirits, or seeks oracles from the dead. Anyone who does such things is an abomination to the LORD, and because of such abominations the LORD, your God, is dispossessing them before you" (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).
