Sunday, December 14, 1947, was the last apparition at Ile-Bouchard, a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France. A crowd of thousands was praying the Rosary. The Virgin Mary appeared even more resplendent than previously. The prayer of the children and the people assembled made her beauty seem even greater.
- Sing the Hail Mary!
- Madam, here are some flowers (a bouquet of aromas, a bouquet of carnations, a bouquet of roses and a bouquet of violets). Jacqueline begged her:
- Kiss them!
- I will kiss them, but I don't want to take them. You will take them with you.
- Madam, what must be done to console Our Lord for the sorrow that sinners cause him?
- You must pray and make sacrifices. Continue praying the Rosary.
After the Rosary and the three invocations, Jacqueline resumed:
- Madam, I beg you to give proof of your presence.
- Before you leave, I will send a bright ray of sunlight. Tell the crowd to sing the Magnificat.
- Yes Madam, we will sing it.
The priest began singing, the people followed, and the rosary continued.
- Pray for sinners.
- Yes Madam, we will pray.
- Say a decade of the Rosary with your arms outstretched."
The Virgin kept increasing the number of rosaries to be prayed every day, until that number reached five.
Fifty years later, Jacqueline Aubry remembered: "Mary made me taste the happiness of Heaven", with real delight in her voice!
The little girls, followed by others, did as they were bade; the Virgin blessed the crowd.
- Are you going to build a grotto?
- Yes, yes, we will build it.
- O Mary conceived without sin...
Three times the children repeated the invocation. The Virgin disappeared and did what she had announced. A strong ray of sunlight came down and illuminated the place where the grotto was to be built...
