The power of the Rosary can overturn the social order

I believe that we are in a time of tremendous spiritual battle, and that we, the little ones, must take the rosary in hand to respond to the call of our Mother, the Virgin Mary, who never ceases to encourage us to pray the rosary. St. Louis de Montfort wrote: "The Hail Mary well said, with devotion and modesty, is, according to the saints, the enemy of the devil, which puts him to flight, and the hammer that crushes him."

We rarely associate devotion to Mary with the social or political dimension of life, yet Mary's words in the Magnificat point to a reversal of the social order in favor of God's Reign.

Let us take, for example, the development that preceded the fall of the dictator Marcos (ex-president of the Philippines) and that was carried by the prayer of the rosary of the Virgin Mary:

When Benigno Aquino (leader of the opposition to Marcos) was assassinated in 1983, he had just finished praying the rosary. During the election campaign of his widow Corazon Aquino, many of the people raised their rosaries in support. During the decisive demonstrations of February 22, 23 and 24, 1986, two million people gathered in Manila without any bloodshed. People went out into the streets with the statue of Mary, singing and praying the rosary, offering flowers and food to the soldiers. The power of the people was the power of Mary, and the victory was the victory of Mary.
