"My background is Algerian Kabyle; I never identify as being a Muslim, probably because I don’t understand Arabic. I can’t read or write it either. So I used to pray to God in my own way. But something bothered me in this religion, which I couldn’t exactly pinpoint.
I have never observed Ramadan, because it has become very commercial. The first time I fasted was on a Good Friday. I liked the idea of accompanying my prayer with a short fast.
I felt an incredible peace when I entered a Catholic church for the first time. I remember praying before a statue of St. Anthony of Padua. I really liked this saint, who holds the baby Jesus in his arms. I feel that I am Catholic.
I plan on being baptized. I hope to begin this two-year process sometime soon. I had a bad experience at a non-Catholic church, and now it’s hard for me to talk to the grown up Jesus directly. I feel very close to Mary, to the Holy Family with Jesus as a child, and to St. Joseph.
I hope to go to Lourdes one day because I would like for my leg to be healed. I lost my job because of a work accident... My life since then has been one of daily pain. At an age when people are starting a family, I lost everything, including my health. This is my story."
Let us pray for X who already prays the Rosary every day! She needs our prayers to continue on her journey.
