I still vividly remember my "encounter" with the Virgin Mary, eight years ago. I was studying about the Catholic faith, mostly by doing some online searches because I didn't know anyone in my parish who was able answer all my questions.
I learned that the Blessed Virgin has appeared many times throughout history, always to encourage the world to convert and to tell us how much God loves us. I first watched a video about her apparitions in Garabandal (Spain), then one about Fatima, Medjugorje, etc. Before that, Lourdes was just a name. I didn’t know what took place there. I said to my wife: "It’s completely crazy, why don’t we ever hear about it? Lourdes should make the news headlines every night on primetime TV!"
I began to confide in my Heavenly Mother, asking her to guide me through my day. Unaware of it at first, I also began to engage in a battle with Protestant websites that denied Mary's role in the plan of salvation.
Surely inspired by Mary, I consecrated my computer to her, asking her to preserve me from all error. After that, I discovered private revelations and new saints, all of which made me love her even more! The prayer of the Rosary became my daily companion. I was so thirsty to know our Lord and His dearest Mother better!
Shortly after my conversion, the Lord granted me one of the greatest graces of my life: I discovered Maria Valtorta’s The Gospel as Revealed to Me. This reading transformed me, my faith blossomed and my love for Jesus and Mary greatly increased. Today I feel like I know them much more intimately.
I agree with this comment by Father Gabriele Roschini: "No other Marian writing, not even the sum of all those I have read and studied, have been able to give me on Mary, God's Masterpiece, an idea as clear, as vivid, as complete, as luminous and as fascinating, both simple and sublime, as the writings of Maria Valtorta."
