In 2011, on a beautiful summer day, three friends and I were on a pilgrimage in Medjugorje (Bosnia-Herzegovina). Everything was going well since our arrival in this blessed place. On the morning of the third day, we decided to meet at 10:00 a.m. in the Adoration Chapel for an hour of prayer.
Before going there myself, I had to go to the parish information office to find out about the day's program. I was then planning on meeting the others in the chapel. As I exited the office, I raised my hand to grab the staircase railing to go down five steps, when a mysterious force lifted me off the ground and threw me in the air past those stairs, making me land headfirst on the brick sidewalk...
My right hand miraculously found itself pressed against my forehead to absorb the shock of this fall in which I had lost all control! The impact sent my glasses flying, but somehow, they didn't break... When I came back to my senses, I heard a voice whispering in my ear: "Fortunately, I protected you, my son!"
At that same moment I heard a pilgrim, who happened to be a nurse, shout at me: "Please don't move! I saw everything, you fell down very hard. To protect your spine, I’ve put my sweater under your head, and I called the paramedics right away!"... An hour later, at the hospital in Mostar, the X-ray tests showed no sign of fracture, neither in the hand nor in the back, nor in the head.
As a recipient of such a grace, how could I not give thanks: it was the Virgin Mary who moved my hand and protected me from serious fractures in my skull or elsewhere.
