In the summer of 2015, I was in Spain enjoying a drink on the beach at sunset with some friends. Two of them, Tanguy and Vincent, had been on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje (a Marian shrine and site of apparitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and were telling us about it.
A few months later, they chartered a bus for 50 people to go there. That was the trigger for me! I jumped at the opportunity and booked myself a seat. I packed my bag and was ready to go! Thank you Mary!
Before the pilgrimage, I decided to let go of the heavy burdens from my past that I was still carrying with me and that were holding me back from living in the present and from being happy.
At the top of Podbordo, Apparition Hill, I met the Virgin Mary. Kneeling at her feet, I felt an incredible warmth of maternal love: Mary was taking me in her arms. I was there, like a little girl, bringing the intentions of all my loved ones, with precise questions that I wanted answered. But Jesus and Mary allow time to work for us, and I can say today that they are fully right. They know us better than we know ourselves.
Since then, I met two key persons who helped me on my journey. One of them is a Dominican priest who told me: "Above all, do not let go of the hand of Mary your Mother." The Virgin is at my side every day. She leads me to her Son. I understand today how much He loves us, how much He needs our love. Little by little I let go of my burdens. Life is beautiful! These are the graces of Medjugorje! Amen!
