Mary asked and Jesus did it on the spot

Regarding Mary the Mediatrix of all grace, saint Thomas Aquinas makes this comment about the scene of the Wedding at Cana in the Gospel of Saint John, chapter 2:

"By these words ‘My hour is not yet come’ (Jn 2: 4), Jesus Christ shows that he would have delayed this miracle, if any other than Mary had asked him, but, because the request came from his mother, he did it on the spot."
