In 1876, a French domestic servant named Estelle Faguette, dying of tuberculosis at age 33, in Pellevoisin (France), wrote a letter to the Virgin Mary and placed it near one of her statues:
O my good Mother, here I am again prostrate at your feet. You cannot refuse to hear me. You cannot have forgotten that I am your daughter and that I love you. Grant me therefore from your divine Son, the health of my poor body for His glory. See the pain of my parents… you know that they have only me to provide for them.
In response, the heavenly Mother appeared to her 15 times from February 14th onwards and healed her. She said to Estelle:
I am all Merciful and mistress of my Son. These few good deeds and fervent prayers, and the letter that you wrote to me in September touched my motherly heart. What touched me the most was this sentence: "See the pain of my parents if I were to die. They would have to go begging for their food. Please remember what you suffered when your Son Jesus was laid on the Cross." I showed this letter to my Son. Your parents need you.
