My name is Floribert Lumpungu. I am 68 years old and I live in Lubumbashi, a city in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is truly a Mother who listens and intercedes! In 1968, I was 16 years old. Our mother had gone to Kinshasa, the capital, on a trip and us children stayed with our father. One evening, coming home from school at about 5 pm, I started to get abdominal pains that turned out to be severe amoebic dysentery. My stomach hurt so bad that I kept moaning in pain until about 3 am that night. I was exhausted and dehydrated. Then I thought of praying to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and told her: "Holy Mother, I can't take it anymore! Can you, for the few hours left until the morning, intercede with your son Jesus Christ so that I can sleep a little bit, until I can go to the clinic … I thank you with all my heart!"
Brothers and sisters, do you know that in the morning I woke up feeling completely fine, as if I hadn’t been sick the day before! And instead of going to the clinic, I went to school that day!
It makes me smile when I think about it, and I can only exclaim with great gratitude: Mama Mary, you are truly a Mother! And this is not the only time in my life that Mama Mary has interceded for me!
