December 20 - 4th Sunday of Advent – Our Lady of Folgoët (France)

Mary awaited the Savior in the midst of turmoil

A case unique in history, Israel was expecting the coming of a Savior Messiah after so many prophecies!

As a small girl, Mary awaited the coming of the Messiah with her people. They awaited the Messiah who had been announced not just by a single prophet, but by a long series of prophets that kept completing each other’s prophecies over the centuries.

Mary awaited the Savior, in the heart of a small nation tossed about by historical events, which had survived conflicts with neighboring empires and would one day be the sole survivor of the dissolution of the ancient world, keeping intact its identity and the unshakeable certainty of being the instrument of an eternal, worldwide destiny.

The numerous prophecies announcing the coming of the Messiah describe with surprising accuracy the portrait of the Awaited One, His birth, life, death, mission and destiny, to the point that Christ's contemporaries and disciples could actually picture Him in their minds!
