Since her conversion 26 years ago, Franco-Romanian singer and songwriter Rona Hartner has been sharing the Gospel whenever possible. However, it is not an easy thing to reconcile show business and a Christian life. Rona Hartner tells us about it in her new book, Je te donnerai un vrai bonheur (I Will Give You Real Happiness).(1)
In opposition to a wide-spread opinion in artistic circles, Hartner believes that being a Christian is an advantage. And, she says, Pope Francis has encouraged artists to be missionaries, to be witnesses of the mercy they have received from God in their lives. She personally heard that call when she was writing her book about her own conversion.
None of the glitter nor the spotlight brought her "true happiness." At age 17, a very strong spiritual experience disrupted her life. Assisted by Saint Rita, the singer now strives to really live as a Christian, with of course times of struggle and intense spiritual moments.
Rona Hartner has tons of projects: she wants to create "christotheques," organize events with Christian artists, produce new music albums, etc. Behind all these ideas is a single vision: promoting love and unity. "My songs proclaim the fact that God and the Blessed Virgin Mary make us a people of brothers and sisters," says Rona. We are not brothers and sisters without a father and a mother."
