For more than a decade now, prayer vigils for the revival of the culture of Life in our societies have been held every year in several countries around the world led by their bishops, attracting large numbers of faithful. In France, the next Vigil for Life will take place on November 30, 2019.
During a meeting of the president of the Vigil for Life movement in France with Cardinal Sarah (1) on September 8, 2019, the cardinal blessed the organizers of the Vigils, saying: "I entrust you to the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Life, Our Lady of the Church. Keep up the good fight!"
If you want to organize a Vigil for Life in your parish, you should ask your parish priest now to save the date in the parish calendar for the next national vigil (2).
In 2018, Philippine Archbishop Palma of Cebu, who led a very successful March for Life with Mary, decried the endemic violence in his country, saying: "No man has the right to end another person’s life. God is the beginning and the end of life. We must protect life from the womb to the grave. I would like all threats against life and serial killings to cease, because we are all brothers and sisters in Jesus and Mary. The Lord has come so that we may live and live fully."
Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle of Manila, the Philippines, led the same event in his city at the same time. Church leaders have also opposed the various legislative bills that seek to destroy the sanctity of life.
With the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Life, Our Lady of the Church, let us join the great march and prayer movement for the rebirth of the culture of Life in our societies!
