Marian devotion is a perfect response to our culture

Many people today are tempted to view Marian devotion as outdated. For some, it is the expression of a simplistic or superficial faith, tainted by superstition, dolorism and sentimentality, not something based on reason, but something for people who like fervorinos (1).

But Marian veneration is not an obsolete form of piety! On the contrary, it engages a vision of mankind and the history of salvation that presents a relevant answer to the anguished questions of our post-modern culture.
