In May 1957, a Carmelite priest in Germany published a striking story, of how a house escaped destruction from a fire by the power of a scapular.
A whole row of houses had caught fire in Westboden, near Dusseldorf, Germany. The occupants of a house, who were two devout families, seeing the fire, immediately attached a scapular to the main door. The sparks flew over the house but it didn’t catch on fire.
In less than five hours, 22 houses were burnt to the ground. The only one that stood up and was saved from the flames was the one with the scapular attached its door. Hundreds of people came to see the house protected by the Virgin Mary and were witnesses to the power of the scapular and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
