In a letter dated 1912, Padre Pio wrote: “How many times have I confided to this mother the tormented anguish of my restless heart! And how many times has she comforted me! ... In difficult times, it seems to me that I have no mother on earth, but only one, full of pity, who is in Heaven ... Poor little Mother, how she loves me! I felt it again at the beginning of this month (May). She accompanied me to the altar this morning with such solicitude! ... I wish I had a voice loud enough to tell all the sinners of the world to love Mary."
He went on: “I feel myself burning without a fire. I feel tight and bound to the Son by means of this Mother, without even seeing the chains that bind me so closely.” Padre Pio saw in this Mother the one who leads to Jesus and who, by her powerful intercession, obtains innumerable graces from him.
He wrote in a letter dated 1915: “Let us endeavor, like so many elect souls, to follow this blessed Mother, to walk always close to Her, not following any other path that leads to life, except the one trod by our Mother…let us not reject this way, since we want to reach our destination.”
