I had recently moved to a town in northern France. My doctor, a practicing Catholic, invited me to participate in the Lourdes pilgrimage for the sick. It struck me that my name was Bernadette, and that we were going to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the apparitions! ...
After coming back from Lourdes, I experienced a lot of suffering. It felt like the three days Jesus spent in his grave. In our chapel, before the Blessed Sacrament, I felt the same sensation of peace that I had had at Lourdes during the Eucharistic procession for the sick. I had the strong impression that Jesus was walking in our midst and was bearing all our suffering.
In this chapel, I experienced a sort of resurrection, even though I didn’t understand what was happening to me. During worship, after about 45 minutes, I felt an overwhelming sense of well-being. I continued to pray. Once back home in my room, I heard a voice say: "Remove your apparatus." I was wearing a brace, a foot splint, a neurostimulator, and I had been on morphine for years ...
In an act of faith I took all the apparatus off. I thought about the Gospel where Jesus said to the paralytic: "Get up, take up your pallet and walk!" And to my great surprise when I took off the brace and splint, my gnarled foot had straightened out and I could move without feeling any pain.
