In Illfurt, a town in Alsace (France), in 1865, a child had been possessed by a demon for four years. They had tried everything to deliver this poor child, but nothing worked. One day, a monk arrived, with a diocesan delegation, to do exorcisms on the child. He had brought with him a statue of Mary Immaculate.
And it happened! As soon as the monk appeared, the devil, through the mouth of the possessed child, exclaimed, "Ah! So here he is, with his great lady ... Now I'm defeated, I must go.” The child was immediately delivered.
It is in memory of this wonderful deliverance that the inhabitants of Illfurt installed a magnificent statue of the Immaculate Virgin on the village square for everyone to see, at all times.
