"After praying about it, I have decided to consecrate our diocese of Séez (northwestern France) to the Virgin Mary, especially to ask for more vocations," Bishop Habert announced on January 9, 2018, on the 7th anniversary of his episcopal ordination.
The bishop is very open about it: his own spiritual life is permeated by a love of Mary, "a special grace that helped him in his ministry." This solemn Marian consecration took place on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at 3 pm, in the Cathedral of Sées (1).
As Pope Francis recently said: "We supplicate Mary so that, through her maternal prayer, she will help us to make the Church a home for many, a mother for all peoples, and make possible the birth of a new world."
To prepare for this consecration to Mary, since the beginning of the Easter season (which extends from Easter to Pentecost), every Sunday the faithful have recited a preparatory prayer found in a booklet distributed in 10,000 copies throughout the region.
Finally, in the afternoon of Sunday, May 13th, the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima, after a short procession from the basilica to the cathedral of the diocese, the consecration took place in the presence of all the faithful of the Orne department. It really was a historic event for the diocese.
