Archbishop Cattenoz of Avignon, in southern France, consecrated his diocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on December 8, 2017, and invited each parish priest to do the same.
Each day of the novena leading up to December 8th, the diocesan faithful were invited to recite the following prayer written by Cardinal Sarah:
"O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Queen of the Angels and the Saints, Mediatrix of all graces, we find refuge and protection in Your Immaculate Heart, because you are our Mother. Grant us, as you promised the three shepherds of Fatima, to offer our lives every day for the salvation of sinners.
May your maternal love touch hearts hardened by sin so that all men, saved by the blood of your Son poured on the Cross, find the way to love, penance and reconciliation with God and with their brethren. Then we will be able to sing together with one heart the triumph of your maternal mercy. Amen."
This prayer is followed by 1 Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, 1 Glory Be and 3 times the invocation: "O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you."
