On Saturday, October 7, 2017, feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, Sister Ignael, a French nun of the Monastic Family of Bethlehem, the Assumption of the Virgin and Saint-Bruno, pronounced her final vows at the Deir Rafat monastery in Bethlehem, a monastery whose mission is to pray for the unity of the Latin and Eastern Catholic Church.
The Sisters of Bethlehem, the Assumption of the Virgin and Saint Bruno, were founded in 1950 in Rome after Pope Pius XII declared the promulgation of the dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A few months later, in 1951, the first community of Bethlehem was founded in France, and in 1976, the first community of monks of Bethlehem was established in the mountains of the Chartreuse, also in France.
Today, there are 30 monasteries for the Sisters and 3 for the monks in 15 different countries. In the Holy Land, they are present in Beit Gemal, Deir Rafat, Lavra Netofa in Galilee, as well as in Bethlehem.
